BAXON Gopito smashed an unbeaten 75 as Takashinga Patriots 2 cruised to a seven-wicket victory over Triangle in their National Premier League (NPL) Men’s Super 40 match at Triangle Country Club on Monday. Triangle, batting first, posted 174 for nine in their 40 overs, with veteran all-rounder Tendai Chisoro anchoring the innings with an unbeaten 67 off 76 balls. Chisoro struck three sixes and five fours in a determined knock that held the home side’s innings together after regular wickets. Ryan Simbi led the Takashinga attack with three wickets for 36 runs, while Takudzwa Chataira and Webster Madhidhi claimed two wickets apiece. In reply, Takashinga made light work of the chase, reaching 176 for three in just 21 overs. Tanunurwa Makoni and Liam Mudenda provided a brisk start, putting on 52 for the opening wicket inside six overs. Mudenda contributed 26 before departing, while Kupakwashe Muradzi added a useful 30. Gopito then took control of the chase, producing an aggressive unbeaten 75 from 47 deliveries. The Takashinga captain struck 11 fours and two sixes as his side raced to victory with 19 overs to spare. Chisoro was Triangle’s most economical bowler, finishing with one wicket for 24 runs from his six overs, while Timothy Aphiri and John Dandajena also claimed a wicket each.
