CAPTAIN Roy Kaia hit 50 and Samuel Muyambo 48, but Takashinga 1 lost to Sogo Rangers by 67 runs in the NPL T20 Blast at Harare Sports Club on SUNDAY night, after Rangers set a target of 252.
Takashinga 1 won the toss and chose to bowl first. Rangers made 251/4 with four half-centuries from Matthew Campbell (50 off 19), Dion Myers (50 off 32), Jonathan Campbell (56 not out) and Dane Schadendorf (51 not out).
The bowlers kept working for breakthroughs. Shelton Mazvitorera struck in the second over, with Muyambo taking the catch. Ryan Simbi, fresh from his 5/4 against Queens on Saturday, removed the dangerous Matthew Campbell with Ronak Patel holding the catch. Patel later bowled Myers. Simbi finished with 1/39, and Tapiwa Mufudza also picked up a wicket.
Chasing 252, Takashinga 1 lost Tinashe Kamunhukamwe second ball, but Kudzai Maunze counter-attacked with 24 off 11 balls, including two sixes. He then retired hurt in the fourth over. Patel added 23 off 16 balls with four boundaries and Timycen Maruma hit two sixes in his 13.
Kaia and Muyambo then put on 86 for the fourth wicket, the side's best partnership of the evening. Muyambo struck two sixes in his 48 off 33 balls. Kaia reached a captain's half-century off 37 balls before he was bowled in the final over.
Uganda international Gerald Olipa chipped in with 10 as Takashinga 1 batted out their 20 overs to finish on 184/6.
The result leaves Takashinga 1 with two wins from four matches.
