TAKASHINGA 1 cruised to a seven-wicket win over Scorpions Cricket Club in their latest National Premier League (NPL) fixture at Masvingo Sports Club, with a disciplined bowling effort followed by a rapid run-chase sealing the result. Having lost the toss and been sent in to bat, Scorpions were bowled out for 151 in 34.2 overs. Derrick Sadoki was the hosts' standout batter, striking 72 off 52 balls with five fours and three sixes for a strike rate of 138.46. Fortune Mhlanga chipped in with 41 off 59, but the rest of the Scorpions line-up could not build partnerships as wickets fell at regular intervals. Kundai Matigimu was the pick of the visiting Takashinga bowlers, returning figures of 4/16 from eight overs, including three maidens, at an economy rate of 2.00. Antum Naqvi backed him up with 3/31, while Tapiwa Mufudza took 1/23. Roy Kaia and Priviledge Chesa claimed a wicket apiece to complete the rout. Takashinga 1 made light work of the chase, reaching the target in 19.2 overs for the loss of three wickets. Joylord Gumbie led the reply with 64 off 53 balls, hitting 13 fours and shared a 102-run opening stand with Tafadzwa Tsiga, who made 39 off 34 balls with seven boundaries. After both openers were dismissed, Antum Naqvi (21 not out off 17) and Samuel Muyambo (12 not out off 11) guided Takashinga home with overs to spare.
