TAKASHINGA 2 produced one of their most complete performances of the 2026 National Premier League season, skittling Amakhosi 2 Cricket Club for just 99 before openers Awad Naqvi and Tanunurwa Makoni completed an unbeaten 10 wicket victory at Kwekwe Sports Club on Thursday. Having elected to field first after winning the toss, Takashinga’s bowlers wasted little time stamping their authority on the contest. The pace attack struck with relentless accuracy, reducing Amakhosi to 31 for four before tightening their grip through the middle overs. Usher Garwe led the demolition with a superb four wicket haul, returning figures of four for 45 from eight overs. His opening burst removed Mthokozisi Sapuwa without scoring before he trapped Presley Nkomo with a return catch, cleaned up Shelton Mumvuri and bowled captain Cedric Dube for a duck. At the other end, Daichi Nyandoro was equally destructive. The bowler ripped through the middle order with outstanding figures of four for 24 from eight overs, dismissing Vitalis Buwu for 16, Tanyaradzwa Takura for a duck, Blair Morrow for seven and Prosper Zinge for four. Shelton Mazvitorera also made an important contribution, claiming the prized wicket of Bryan Tsongora, who top scored with 24, while Marshall Takodza wrapped up the innings by dismissing Prince Kaunda for 26 as Amakhosi folded for 99 in 21.5 overs. Only three Amakhosi batters reached double figures, with Tsongora’s 24, Kaunda’s 26 and Buwu’s 16 offering the only resistance against a disciplined Takashinga attack. The chase never threatened to become complicated. Naqvi and Makoni batted with complete control from the outset, mixing sensible accumulation with timely boundaries as they steadily erased the modest target. Naqvi anchored the innings beautifully with an unbeaten 53 from 52 deliveries, striking four fours and two sixes to register a composed half century. Makoni played the perfect supporting role, finishing unbeaten on 41 from 41 balls with four boundaries. The pair shared an unbroken opening partnership of 105 from 93 deliveries to seal victory in just 15.2 overs, ensuring Takashinga completed the chase without losing a wicket.
