TAKASHINGA Cricket Club has donated a refrigerator, cash, blankets, and groceries to Highfields Old People’s Home as part of its ongoing community outreach work. Club manager Elvis Sembezeya, chairperson Blessing Ngondo and other senior officials handed over the donation to residents on behalf of the club. Sembezeya said supporting the elderly had become an important tradition for Takashinga and pledged that the club would continue helping the home. The donation reinforces Takashinga’s reputation as a Highfields-based club whose work extends beyond cricket development to community welfare. The club has consistently supported vulnerable groups, particularly children and the elderly. A few months ago, Takashinga also delivered food hampers to Chinyaradzo Children’s Home and Highfields Old People’s Home, where club leaders spent time with residents. The latest donation was welcomed by the home’s management, who said it would help improve residents’ welfare. Takashinga is regarded as one of Zimbabwe’s leading cricket development institutions and has maintained a visible role in social responsibility initiatives in Highfields.
