Takashinga Queens Face Queens in NPL Women’s Super 40 Final

TAKASHINGA Queens will meet Queens Sports Club in the final of the National Premier League Women’s Super 40 competition on Saturday at Kwekwe Sports Club. The match will conclude the round-robin phase of the tournament and determine the 2026 champions. Queens Sports Club advanced to the final with a perfect record, winning all four of their Zone 2 matches against Amakhosi Women and Mbizo Women. Takashinga Queens finished top of Zone 1 with three wins from four matches, ahead of Ghetto Stars Women and Gladiators. Queens enter the final as the competition’s most prolific batting and bowling side. Opener Natasha Mtomba scored 168 runs in the round-robin stage, including an unbeaten 112 against Mbizo Women. Captain Nomvelo Sibanda took 10 wickets. Takashinga’s key performers have been Lorraine Pemhiwa with 109 runs and Michelle Mavunga with 8 wickets from four matches each. The final pits the two most consistent teams in the competition against each other. Queens are seeking to complete an unbeaten campaign. Takashinga are aiming to win the title after finishing second in their zone standings. Zimbabwe Cricket said the Super 40 tournament forms part of its strategy to expand competitive opportunities for women cricketers and strengthen the domestic player pathway.
