TAKASHINGA Patriots 1 made it seven wins in a row with a dominant nine-wicket victory over Strikers at Takashinga Cricket Club on Saturday. Strikers won the early momentum and reached 41 for the loss of one wicket but the game turned decisively when spinning genius Tapiwa Mufudza struck twice in successive deliveries. From there, Strikers never recovered. Opener Tadiwa Gosho top-scored with 33 and Tatenda Chimugoro added 22. Benny Zuze chipped in with 11, but no other batter reached double figures. Strikers were bowled out for a measly 98 all out in 30.1 overs. Mufudza was the destroyer-in-chief, returning outstanding figures of six for 21 from 7.1 overs. He was well supported by Antum Naqvi with one for nine and Kundai Matigimu who took one for 13. Chasing 99 for victory, Patriots 1 made light work of the target. Joylord Gumbie set the tone from the start, finishing 60 not out from 54 balls with 11 fours. He put on 97 for the second wicket with *Innocent Kaia, who made a brisk 30 off 26 balls before falling with the score on 97. Tadiwanashe Kurehwatira claimed the only wicket to fall for Strikers, finishing with one for seven. Brendan Taylor came in and sealed the win in style, hitting a boundary off his second delivery to finish on four not out. Patriots 1 reached 102 for one in 13.3 overs, winning with 36.3 overs to spare. It was a complete performance. Mufudza’s career-best spell broke the game open, and Gumbie’s controlled aggression ensured there were no nerves in the chase. With seven straight wins, Takashinga Patriots 1 continue to set the pace.
